Easy Magic Tricks

Children love magic tricks. They find it entertaining and often wish that they could do it too. At birthday parties, it’s especially popular to hire a magician to entertain the kids and have them participate. Adults, though most deny it, are also astonished at how magicians pull off their magic stunts.

There are a lot of easy tricks that you can try. Some are more exciting than others but it will give you a fun learning experience. In most magic tricks, the magician usually has props to help him out. The usual props are wands, hats, coins, cards, a hanky, ropes and many other items that make the magic trick more interesting and realistic.

In this magic trick you’ll need a rope. In preparation, tie a knot on one end of the rope making sure that no one sees it. Hold the ends of the rope in your hands making a fist. This will ascertain that the ends are not exposed. Then shake the rope while saying some magic words. Finally blow on your hands and drop one end of the rope. The audience will see that one end has a knot in it.

Believe it or not science plays a big part in some magic tricks. This next trick is quite a stunner. You’ll need liquid dishwashing soap, 6 flat wooden toothpicks, a clean tinfoil pan, and some water. Before performing this in front of an audience fix the 5 toothpicks in a pentagon shape floating on top of the water in the tinfoil pan. Dip you’re your 6th toothpick in liquid dishwashing detergent. Now to start your trick, show the perfectly shaped pentagon floating in the water. Explain to the audience that you are going to break the pentagon apart. At this point, take out the sixth soapy toothpick. Wave your hands over the pan chanting some magical words. Finally dip the soapy toothpick in the middle of the pentagon and the five toothpicks will fly apart. If someone in your audience is a little skeptical, have them try it. Again fix the toothpicks in a pentagon shape and have your spectator imitate what you did. For sure this time nothing will happen. The secret ingredient to this trick is the liquid dishwashing soap. The dishwashing soap breaks the surface tension of the water causing the toothpicks to break apart.

You can try another similar trick. You’ll need water, pepper, a cup, soap and some water. Before your performance, rub soap on your fingers. Place some water in a clean cup and sprinkle some pepper on top. Have a member of the audience place his finger in the cup aiming to separate the pepper. Of course this won’t work. Now the magician puts his finger in the cup and the pepper separates. Again the secret key to this trick is the soap on the magician’s fingers.

There are many tricks that seem complicated but once you learn the secret behind it, it’s really very simple. As you continue to learn more magic tricks, you can challenge yourself to try more complex ones.
